I’ll explain. The sentence said her parents were not migrant workers nor trust fund babies. If we are to use the bookend metaphor as you stated it will mean migrant workers is at the worst or bad end of the spectrum while trust fund babies at the easy one. This is why I said that there is nothing wrong with being a child from migrant workers. Actually there’s nothing wrong with being a child with a trust fund.
If the argument wants to prove that she’s American and black by saying the sentence above, is illogical because being born from migrant workers or trust fund parents does not take away her race or country of birth. Both of these types of parents can be black and have babies in the U.S.
